We are getting feelers from Cong MLAs, claims state BJP chief

SHILLONG: BJP’s quest for “Congress -mukt” Meghalaya in 2018 may be well on the track if one goes by the party chief Shibun Lyngdoh’s claim that several Congress leaders including sitting MLAs have sent feelers to him expressing their desire to join the saffron party.
Indicating this here on Tuesday, Lyngdoh claimed that around 30 percent of the sitting legislators including those from other regional parties also have sent feelers to join the party.
According to him, some of them, along with their feelers, sought to know whether they would be given ticket to contest the 2018 Assembly elections.
Reacting to a query, he said that he would be more than happy if the former BJP MLA and now a Congress minister AL Hek rejoin the Saffron party.
According to Shibun, party is gaining strength and recently former president of RBYF ( joined the party along with his 700 supporters besides the independent MDC from Rajabala S. Rahman will join the BJP with around 2000 supporters shortly.
“Our sole aim and motto is to wipe out Congress from the North East and Meghalaya,” he said, adding that BJP will emerge as an alternative to people in  2018 polls.
“We have decided to complete the entire exercise of forming units in all the 60 mandals by September this year,” Lyngdoh informed.
