Residents donate land for building Fire Substation

SHILLONG: Residents of an area in Tikrikilla has collectively donated a land of around two bighas to the state government for the construction of a Fire and Emergency Substation in the area. The GSU, Tikrikilla also met the Home Minister over the issue and rued that the sub station  is temporarily functioning from the land of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department in Khatalbari.
According to the GSU, the existing sub station is in a dilapidated condition in terms of manpower, infrastructure and other amenities. During the meeting, the Home Minister assured that the matter will be expedited at the earliest.
