HC accepts petition to tag Warsanlyngdoh villages under WKH

SHILLONG: The Division Bench of the High Court of Meghalaya will take up a petition filed by a headman urging that the villages within Warsanlyngdoh area should remain with West Khasi Hills and not be tagged under the newly created district of South West Khasi Hills.
Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, in his order said the petitioner, headman of Nongsummer village, states the grievance against the decision of the government to retain the villages within Warsanlyngdoh area with the newly upgraded South West Khasi Hills District.
The petitioner submitted that the area in question should be allowed to remain with the original West Khasi Hills District and should not be included in the South West Khasi Hills District.
The Court observed that the petition does not relate directly to any personal right of the petitioner and the prayer as made in this petition for retaining the villages within Wansanlyngdoh area in West Khasi Hills District is of common cause rather than the petitioner’s personal cause.
