Sonowal visits Indo-Bangla border along Mankachar sector

Mankachar: In a move to reaffirm Assam government’s zero-tolerance stance towards cross border movement, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday visited the Indo-Bangla border along Mankachar sector in South Salmara.
The Chief Minister inspected the barbed wire fencing travelling 30 km of border areas along Mankachar and also took stock of the condition of fencing work done there.
Sonowal visited Sahapara Border Outpost, Kakripara, Jholachar, Diara, Asmer Alga, Kukurmara, Gudligaon, Deepchar, Sishumara Border Outposts and inspected the ground situation there.
He also inspected the erosion-hit areas of Sishumara Border Outpost and vowed to take all measures for a foolproof fencing along the border.
Asking the BSF personnel responsible for guarding the Indo-Bangla border to maintain a strict vigil on a 24X7 basis, Sonowal sought suggestions from BSF to fortify the existing fencing system wherever required. The Chief Minister visited the border areas accompanied by 11 MLAs of his BJP and alliance partners, AASU leadership, including its chief advisor Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya, Director General of Police Mukesh Sahay, Home Commissioner L S Changsan and senior civil, police and BSF officers.
