SHILLONG: The Supreme Court has accepted the application for impleadment by as many as 53 deserving candidates from Jaintia Hills who were affected by the ‘Education Scam’.
During the hearing of the matter on September 2, the Supreme Court said an opportunity would be given to the aggrieved teachers, who were earlier the writ petitioners in the High Court.
The matter will be heard by the Supreme Court in November.
Earlier, the 53 teachers, who were not made a party in the apex court, had filed a writ petition in the High Court against the faulty selection process for appointment    of LP school teachers.
The petitioners wanted a direction from the Supreme Court for appointments as they were qualified and also desired that the officials responsible for the manipulation of marks be punished.
There is apprehension on the part of the petitioners that if there is a delay in the verdict, they will cross the age limit and may be deprived of jobs.
