SHILLONG: Former KHADC CEM and Congress leader HS Shylla will contest the KHADC by-poll on a United Democratic Party ticket from Nongkrem constituency.
The District Election Committee of the UDP which met here on Thursday cleared the name of Shylla and the same will be forwarded to the State Election Committee for its approval.
However, UDP president Donkupar Roy said that since Shylla is the lone candidate vying for the ticket, his name will be cleared in all certainty.
Meanwhile, as many as five candidates are eying the UDP ticket from Sohiong constituency.
According to Roy, the meeting on Thursday could not take a decision on the matter and the candidate for Sohiong would be selected once the new office bearers of the local unit in the area are elected.
