Prasad poisoning claims one

Guwahati: Suspected  poisoning claimed the life of one teenaged girl on Friday while over 80 other persons were hospitalised after they reported sickness in the aftermath of consuming gram as `prasada’ in a religious function at Kalita Para village under Kalaigaon police station in Udalguri district of Assam.
Assam government today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the episode and directed collection of samples of gram variety that was consumed by the villagers.
An official informed that a girl named Dipsikha Nath died in a hospital in Mangaldai on Friday morning while 80 other persons were admitted to various hospitals in Mangaldai town. Four persons were referred to Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Friday in critical condition.
About 100 person s from the village reported sick on  Thursday after they had consumed `prasada’ that contained gram as an ingredient at a religious function in the village on Thursday night.
