KSU gets all-girl unit in West Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: The West Khasi Hills unit of the Khasi Students’ Union has formed a girls’ wing with the aim to check crime against women and children in the district.
The KSU, in a function at St Xavier Auditorium in New Nongstoin on Saturday, elected Iadeimon Khongmalai and Daia Nongbri as the president and the general Secretary, respectively, of the all-girl team.
Khongmalai said the main objective of the KSU girls’ wing in West Khasi Hills was to protect those women who are victims of cruelty.
More than 25 girls who came from across West Khasi Hills joined the new KSU wing.
The meeting was attended by finance secretary of KSU’s central body Lambokstar Marngar, president of KSU’s West Khasi Hills  unit John Nongsiang, president of KSU’s girls’ wing (central body) Grace Lanong, Monalisha Dhar, president KSU Dimasa District Unit (Haflong) among others.
