Roy confident of a graft-free Govt under UDP post 2018

SHILLONG: Opposition leader and UDP president Donkupar Roy has predicted the victory of regional parties when they face the Assembly polls in 2018 even as he asserted that the agenda of the UDP will be a corruption-free government.
“The situation is very much favourable to the non- Congress parties and they will make a difference in 2018 and provide a clean administration,” Roy said recently.
The regional parties are hoping for a change in 2018 due to the infighting in the Congress and the anti-incumbency factor as they prepare for the Assembly polls.
When asked, Roy agreed that the people of Meghalaya are dissatisfied with the functioning of the Congress-led government. “We want to ensure a corruption-free government in the State and this, we hope, will be achieved with the support of the people,” he said.
Coming to the discussion on the resolution for removal    of Assembly Speaker AT Mondal to be taken up by the State Assembly on Friday, the UDP leader wishes that there should not be any personal attack on the office of the Speaker.
