SHILLONG: The State government has filed an affidavit before the High Court of Meghalaya citing the Supreme Court order allowing the government to hold by-elections to seven district council constituencies as per the schedule fixed for December 13.
After the High Court disapproved the calendar fixed by the State government for holding the by-polls, the Supreme Court after taking up a special  leave petition filed by the government, stayed the High Court’s interim order on September 9.
An official source said the affidavit citing the Supreme Court order was filed before the High Court on Monday.
With this, the State government is now set to hold the by-polls on December 13.
The High Court will take up the matter on September 14.
