Special event for St Teresa on Sept 17

TURA: The Tura Catholic Coordination Committee is planning a special event at SMELC hall in Dakopgre here to mark the sainthood of Mother Teresa.
Tura MP Conrad K Sangma will be the chief guest at the programme that will start from 10.30am on September 17. He will unveil a statue on the occasion. The Mother was canonised in the Vatican City on September 4.
The programme will be attended by religious leaders from all communities. C B Lamsal, president of the Central Puja Committee of Garo Hills, will deliver a special speech.
The general secretary of the A’chik Baptist Dalgipa Krima (ABDK), Rev. Janang R Sangma, will also speak at the occasion. A slide show on the life of Mother Teresa is also scheduled to be presented during the celebration.
Canonisation celebrated
Don Bosco College in collaboration with its alumni association organized a function on Sunday at the college amphitheatre in Tura to celebrate the canonization of Mother Teresa.
The event included offering of prayers, singing of devotional songs and reading of short life sketch of the saint and screening of a documentary.
