NONGPOH: Irked over irregular power supply in Ri Bhoi, especially in Nongpoh, UDP’s Ri Bhoi general secretary Rayonald Kharkamni and local MDC Rona Khymdeit on Wednesday met MePDCL officials to apprise them about the situation and asked them to restore stable power supply in the district. Kharkamni told media persons that irregular and frequent power cuts without prior notice is inconveniencing people and the Civil Hospital in Nongpoh where uninterrupted power supply is required.
As the MePDCL CEO was not in office, the duo met MePDCL assistant engineer B. Manih and the SDO who informed that MePDCL had submitted several proposals – including those of a separate 32KV power storage at Umdihar and Umden and separation of urban and rural power supply – to the higher authority for approval.
The officials also assured that from now on there will be prior notices for load-shedding and power cuts in the district.  Kharkamni informed that the UDP Ri Bhoi would meet Minister in charge of Power Sniawbhalang Dhar urging him to intervene in speeding up the stalled projects.
