Khasi teacher youngest to receive Nagaland state award

SHILLONG: Bisharlang Pyngrope, a Khasi from Mawlyngad village who is the principal of a school in Nagaland, has received a state award from the Nagaland Government for his contribution to education.
Pyngrope, who received the award on Teachers’ Day, is the youngest among the awardees so far in the history of the Department of School Education in Nagaland.
He is currently serving as the principal of Tewelhi Medo Tyrannus Higher Secondary School, Pfütsero, and is known for his sincerity and dedication.
Pyngrope is also the recipient of Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award 2014, District Teacher’s Award 2015, Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award 2015 and Best Indian Educationist Award 2016.
Speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion, Yitachu Pfithu, Minister of Education and SCERT in Nagaland, acknowledged that the state is lagging behind in imparting quality education despite 80 percent literacy rate.
