SHILLONG: The PWD has said that it will execute the single-lane Nongstoiñ-Wahkaji-Phlangdiloiñ road project and rejected the proposal of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to carry out the work on its own.
Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads) B. Kharbuli asserted that the work is to be done by the PWD independently. However, to implement project the department has asked the Council to deposit the Rs 20 crore which was allocated for it under the Special Assistance Scheme.
The PWD’s decision may land the KHADC on a sticky wicket as it had assured members of pressure groups of repairing the road in South West Khasi Hills region.
