SHILLONG: In yet another alleged case of misuse of fund meant for Total Sanitation Campaign, RTI findings have revealed that village heads of Mihmyntdu in West Jaintia Hills have embezzled the money meant for the toilet scheme. This has been alleged by the Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) and Khasi Jaintia National Union (KJNU).
“The RTI revealed that genuine beneficiaries were deprived of their dues. They were to get the funds from the PHE but none have received them till date,” the two organizations have said.
The MPUF and the KJNU will hold a public meeting in this regard and have demanded the village heads to repay the money to the locals.
Meanwhile, the Sordar of Raid Kyrdem, who has also been accused of misappropriating fund meant for construction of toilets, along with 12 headmen from the area has filed a counter FIR against one Helin Lawai alleging him of misusing his powers and misguiding the residents of Klew village in Ri Bhoi.
Earlier, the CSWO and Lawai had accused the Sordar for embezzling the fund.
