SHILLONG: The Mawlai Constituency Progressive Forum has urged the Community and Rural Development Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to allow the functioning of Mawlai Community and Rural Development (C& RD) Block temporarily in a rented building.
The president of the Forum P T Sawkmie met the Minister on Friday and said that though the Block was sanctioned by the government, it has not been functioning.
“We suggest that the government should activate the office of C& RD Block at Mawlai temporarily in a rented building. In the meantime, the department can look for a suitable land to construct a permanent building”, Sawkmie said
According to the Forum, the new Block will provide employment opportunity to the local youths.
The Minister assured the delegation that the State government will identify a suitable area for the Block.
The forum asked the minister to speed up the matter so that people benefit from the C&RD block headquarters at Mawlai.
