SHILLONG: Following the seizure of two live geckos (lizards) from poachers recently, an official source from the wildlife department said that hunting of the reptile will attract imprisonment which may extend to three years or a fine of Rs 25000 or both. A gecko is an animal listed in schedule IV of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.  It may be noted that five persons including a woman from the State were arrested for possessing geckos.
