SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Mawlai circle, has expressed its concern over less number of enrolments for the Megha Health Insurance Scheme from the area.
A delegation of HYC Mawlai members met the CEO of the scheme, M.R Synrem, on Monday. The CEO told the group that those who missed enrolment can visit the office in Laitumkhrah. The Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) will start from November. Danny Mukhim, general secretary of HYC Mawlai, said the government would tie up with HYC to spread awareness about the scheme in Mawlai areas so that the number of enrolment goes up.
The second phase of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) was rolled out last year and MHIS-II had targeted to cover 7,59,515 households with the policy period commencing from August 1, 2015. MHIS-II was launched after the State Government entered into an agreement with New India Assurance Company Ltd. MHIS-II to provide a comprehensive and universal health insurance cover to the entire population in the State.
The scheme is more beneficial as the number of packages under it has gone up to 1,704 from 1,142.
