Minor boy released on payment of ransom

SHILLONG: A minor boy who was abducted in Ri Bhoi recently was released after the kidnappers were paid an amount of Rs 4.3 lakh, a delayed report said.
Ri Bhoi SP GD Kharwanlang said that though the main accused in the case is in police net, the ransom could not be recovered as the miscreant had spent it on buying television and other items.
Earlier one Pron Pariong of Tyrso village in Ri Bhoi had lodged a complaint that on September 16 around 6.30 pm, unidentified miscreants abducted his minor son Devestar Lyngdoh (12) from their compound.
Later, the complainant received a phone call wherein the unidentified caller demanded Rs. 10 lakh as ransom for the release of his son. However, the abductors later settled for a sum of Rs. 4.3 lakh which was subsequently paid on September 18 around 4.30 am, at Tyrso market.
