SHILLONG: The teachers who had appeared for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) examination will march to the office of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) on Wednesday in protest against the anomalies in results.
National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), which conducted the examination, announced the results on September 9 after a nine-month delay and the teachers had alleged that there were discrepancies in the results.
In a press communiqué, the teachers have stated that they want clarification on the results from the NIOS office on the premises of DERT Shillong at 10 am on Wednesday.
The decision was taken in a meeting of teachers from Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi districts. They have urged SSA, ad hoc, deficit and government trainees to participate in the protest.
The teachers were already upset over the nine-month delay in announcing the D.EL.ED results and to add to their woes, teachers from East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills alleged that the results were incomplete.
