SHILLONG: Former Health and Family Welfare Minister A.L Hek met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P Nadda on Wednesday here and sought central assistance for setting up a civil hospital in Resubelpara in North Garo Hills.
North Garo Hills, which is one of the new districts, was created in 2012 and does not have a hospital.
Hek also urged Nadda to increase fund under Megha Health Insurance Scheme and release money for upgrading Rynjah Dispensary to a public health centre.
The project to upgrade Rynjah     Dispensary has already been sanctioned with a token amount of Rs 1 crore, the State leader said and added that demand for a new sub-centre at Rangmaw in South West Khasi Hills was also raised.
“The Union Minister has assured that all the demands will be taken up as early as possible,” Hek said.
