Longest Garo novel released

SHILLONG:  Garo author Wilberth D. Marak has released his latest Book Delhini Me’tra, which is the longest contemporary novel in the language ever.
Delhini Me’tra (A Delhi Girl) is a novel about a Delhi-based Garo girl who comes to Garo Hills for her doctoral research work. The book focuses on the current social issues in areas dominated by Garos, the importance of historical places, romance and humour. This is Marak’s third book that was released at a function organised by A’chik Literature Society, Tura.
Marak’s first book, Mangsunduk Tarigipa Paningsa, released in 2008 was so far the longest novel in Garo.
His second book, Den’galgija SMS Aro Gipin Golporang, is a collection of 12 short stories published in 2013.
Marak, who has been given Literary Award by A’chik Literature Society in 2014, also contributes articles, poems, essays and short stories to dailies, journals and magazines.
Delhini Me’tra is the first novel in which dialect of the Garos of Kamrup (Assam) has been incorporated in addition to other Garo dialects.
