HSPDP fields candidates for six KHADC seats

SHILLONG: HSPDP has announced the names of candidates for the by-polls to the six vacant seats in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Addressing reporters on Monday, president of the party Ardent Basaiawmoit said, “We are hopeful of winning all six seats in the coming election.”
Hubert Riang is ready to throw his hat in the ring and will be contesting from Nongkrem. Other candidates fielded by the party are Banri Kupar Wahlang (Laban), Samlin Malniang (Sohiong-Nongspung), Blandingstar Warjri (Mawthadraishan), Alexander Kharsyntiew (Mairang) and World Champion Paliar (Rambrai Jyrngam).
Speaking to reporters, the candidates exuded confidence of winning the council election and said they would bring about clean governance.
The election to the seven vacant district council seats (KHADC- 6 and JHADC- 1) will be held on December 13. The model code of conduct will come into effect from November 21, the day the filing of nominations starts.
When asked about fielding a candidate for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) seat, Basaiawmoit said the party is yet to decide on the matter.
