SHILLONG: Police has arrested a gang of suspected car lifters from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills.
Police detected one Maruti Alto car (AS-01AJ-4696) with tinted glasses, driven by Md. Babullal Laskar (26) at Khliehriat on September 28.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a plain number plate, two crowbars, small containers containing black and yellow paint, one bamboo stick used as scale and keys among other things.
In this connection, the driver and one occupant of the vehicle Md. Baheruddin (25 yrs) were arrested on suspicion of being car lifters.
Investigation is in progress.
