Delegations from Mawphlang seek CM’s intervention

Shillong: The Chief Minister has assured a delegation from Mawphlang led by local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary, Kennedy C. Khyriem of all possible action to resolve their issues during a meeting on Tuesday.
A delegation of Mawphlang Lyngdoh clan, Hima Mawphlang and Bakhraw Ka Hima on met Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to seek his intervention into pertinent issues concerning the people of the area, particularly for improvement of healthcare facilities.The delegation apprised the Chief Minister of the tragic demise of the former Lyngdoh of Mawphlang, which they said was due to failure on the part of the health department in providing medical care during emergencies and requested for the appointment of an experienced medical officer at Mawphlang PHC. The delegation also pressed upon the Government to operationalize Mawphlang CHC as the number of patients visiting the PHC has grown over the recent years.
The delegation also raised the issue of setting up of a Science & Commerce College at Mawphlang for which 20 acres of community land has been set aside for the purpose. They also called for shifting of JNV School to its permanent campus.
