SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) East Jaintia Hills unit has asked the State Government to put on hold the proposed public hearing on October 25 for setting up of a limestone mine by a cement company at Thangskai village. HANM-EJH president Ency Shadap on Wednesday also questioned the State Government’s decision to allow Ms/Dalmia Cement to hold the public hearing considering that the State does not have a mining policy in place. The HANM demanded that the state government should give a clarification on its decision to grant permission to the cement company to extract limestone in the district.
