Oldest Dolloi passes away

JOWAI: The oldest Dolloi of Nartiang Elaka, Don Dkhar passed away on Wednesday morning, a day after the culmination of Durga puja celebrations. Dkhar (83) breathed his last at around 6.40 am at his residence due to prolonged illness. The Dolloi of Nartiang had served as the Elaka chief since 1984. According to the village secretary, Bunlang Phalangki, the rituals for cremation of his mortal remains will be held on Friday. A meeting to recall his contribution will be held at the Dolloi’s residence at 10 am and subsequently rituals for cremation will start at the cremation ground of Nartiang village at 11 am.
