Assam to host national science fair: Chief Minister

GUWAHATI: In a bid to take science to the door steps of everybody and to increase its mass popularity, Assam Government will organise a national level science fair in the State.
Moreover, State Government has also decided to pay official honour to the scientists, motivate the upcoming scientists and giving them awards in recognition to their unmatched contributions to the development of science and technology on the occasion of Science Day.
This was disclosed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while speaking on the occasion of the 24th National Children’s Science Congress at Dibrugarh University on Friday at Dibrugarh.
Sonowal said, “Students of today are the future of tomorrow. In order to give fillip to the growth and development of Assam, students are to be groomed properly giving a right mix of science and technology with other subjects of the curriculum.
Science and Technology are the potent tools for the skill development of our students”.
According top-most priority to science and technology, the State Government has been progressing well to harness its natural resources, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said and added that the countries which have made judicious use of science and technology to utilise their resources have been doing well in the parlance of national development.
“Even we need to march forward with this approach to bolster the growth and development of our State”, Sonowal said.
He commented, “Land of Assam is very salubrious and through the use of science and technology productivity including economic development of Assam can be enhanced”.
Terming cleanliness is next to Godliness, Sonowal said that giving due respect to the appeal of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Assam should also extend its hands towards Swachhta Abhiyan and make the State clean and serene.
