NSS conducts camping at Nongtyngur village

SHILLONG: The NSS Unit of Shillong College conducted its second Special Camping Programme at Nongtyngur Village, East Khasi Hills District from October 10-15.
During the 6-day programme, various activities were conducted including awareness programme on various career options and career guidance for school students of the entire village studying from class VI onwards.
Programme Officers of the unit briefed the students about the various career options available for the students not only on professional studies but also in various skill professions like art and amp, craft works, setting up of enterprises which are locally need based and many other options like horticulture, apiculture and many more.
Another important programme conducted during the week was the construction of the village footpath which is part of the community asset creation of the NSS  which is financially supported by NSS Cell NEHU.
Other programmes conducted during the week were the sports and games competitions for local children and youth members of the village like the carrom board competion and traditional games like mawpoint, sohtyngkoh and football.
The programme concluded on October where a public meeting was conducted at the community hall which was  presided by the assistant headman of the village.
