Peace returns to Tura before festivals

SHILLONG: After days of tension and perceived law and order problem, Tura town is now limping back to normalcy.
Tura witnessed some tensed days after a local youth hurt in a clash between two groups in Rishipara locality of the town succumbed to injuries.
West Garo Hills DC Pravin Bakshi said the situation was normal now and that the town was gearing up for Diwali that will be followed by Wangala dance.
He also informed that the magisterial inquiry into the assault incident was likely to be completed soon and the magistrate has been asked to submit his report within 14 days from the date of issuing the order for the inquiry on October 15. “We are still maintaining vigil and are on high alert,” Bakshi said.
On October 13, three boys who ventured into Rishipara locality were beaten up after they allegedly tried to ferment trouble.
