SHILLONG: As the Law department is yet to get the number of cases of crime against women pending in various courts in the state even after repeated reminders, the constitution of special court to deal exclusively with the crimes committed against women will take more time.
The Law department had earlier sought the data from various courts in the State.
The government was keen to set up exclusive Special Court to try the cases of rape and other crimes against women.
An official source said that while some data is available with the Law department, more information is yet to come from a few courts so that the data can be compiled before constituting the special court.
