SHILLONG: A delegation of Meghalaya Editors and Publishers Association (MEPA) on Monday met the NEC secretary Ram Muivah and apprised him about the various pending issues which were not addressed by NEC in the past.
MEPA urged the NEC secretary to activate the information wing of the Council for proper dissemination of news by the Council functionaries on a regular basis.
As per the memorandum submitted by MEPA to NEC secretary, the local media is very often neglected by the Council in terms of dissemination of news and release of advertisements
“It is unfortunate that in the past, NEC has been issuing advertisements mostly to national media ignoring the local, vernacular and regional media”, the MEPA said.
The MEPA delegation also urged the NEC secretary to organize conducted tours for the media persons in Meghalaya so that they can visit other parts of the Northeast and highlight projects being undertaken by NEC.
