NONGPOH: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) re-inspected the cattle market at Khanapara in the district on Wednesday where a new method of curbing smuggling has been implemented by the government.
Smuggling in the area is leading to an increased price of cattle. FKJGP general secretary Dundee Cliff Khong-sit said  the new method implemented from Wednesday would go a long way in detecting smugglers. Every buyer under the banner of Khasi Jaintia Butcher Welfare Association will have to get ‘ear tags’ and  health certificates for cattle.
