SHILLONG: A demand to upgrade the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Byrnihat, Ri-Bhoi to Community Health Centre (CHC) was made by a delegation of Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) to the Health Minister Roshan Warjri on Thursday.
Lamenting that there is shortage of manpower in the PHC, he said that only 1 MBBS doctor, 1 Ayurvedic doctor and 5 nurses are available. He added, “It is difficult for them to meet the increasing demands of health care with a population of 43, 080.  The PHC delivers services to locals residing at Shangbangla and other villages. It currently has 10 beds.”
On her part, Warjri has assured the delegation that the needful will be done.
