TURA: A public hearing on crimes against women and children organized by the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW), Shillong was held in Tura on Thursday.
Members of MSCW Shillong including chairperson Theilin Phanbuh, vice-chairman Gamchi T R Marak, secretary I Tariang among others were present at the public hearing.
Expressing her concern over the increasing number of crimes against women and children in the state, Phanbuh said that the cause of these crimes should be addressed immediately and that the commission has introduced training programmes for women’s groups to address the menace.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi among other officials was also present.
