SHILLONG: As the issue of an alleged scam of Rs 100 crore within the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council is yet to the die out, the BJP, which is a coalition partner in the incumbent Executive Council has now demanded reshuffling in the Executive Committee
Tura City District BJP president, Bernard N Marak stated that the Bhartiya Janata Party believes in transparency and accountability.
He said that BJP, which is now second majority in GHADC, sought for a major reshuffle in the portfolios of the Executive Committee in GHADC.
“This demand has been put forward to the CEM since there was no response from him and other concerned EMs when information on the DPRs, work orders, tender copies, work allotment etc of the 100 crore Special Assistance Scheme was not provided to the BJP,” he said.
Stating that the allegation made against the Executive Committee is a grave concern as BJP maintains zero tolerance against corruption, he added that the facts would be brought to light.
Earlier, the pressure groups in Garo Hills who had alleged a scam in the GHADC said the Council’s executive committee is guilty of withholding information about the utilisation of Rs 100.7 crore of central funds for the development of the region.
On October 31, the pressure groups which included GSU, AYWO, FAF, FKJGP and ADE had sought documents to prove transparency in utilisation of the One Time Special Assistance Centre Plan Scheme for 2015-16.
