IIM tribute to Manjunath
The director, faculty and administration along with the students of IIM Shillong honored the legacy of late Manjunath Shanmugam by holding a candle light vigil and a march to mark his 11th death anniversary. Around 100 participants gathered to show their solidarity towards the cause and pay their respect. The vigil was preceded by an eulogy for Manjunath that recounted his contributions in the fight against corruption. Participants also took a Pledge of Integrity, committing themselves to the cause of uprooting corruption.
Retd college teachers’ body
The first general council meeting of the retired college teachers of the State will be held on November 22 at Shillong College at 10.30 AM for consideration and approval of the Draft Constitution of the association for its formation. This will be followed by election of the executive committee and office bearers of the proposed association and adoption of resolutions. The meet will be followed by a short open session at 1 PM at the same venue which will be graced by Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Minister of Art & Cutlure, Urban Development Affairs. All retired college teachers of the State are requested to attend the meet. Serving college teachers, who will be retiring in the next 12 months are also requested to attend the meet.
Ahoma festival in December
The 5th Ahoma Festival, or the 120 Drums Wangala Festival, is scheduled for December 9 and 10 at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills. Folk songs, epic lores and tales will be the main attractions of the party. Special participants from other indigenous cultural groups of Bodo, Rabha , Assamese, Koch, Karbis and other tribes will also perform.
