Jain spiritual leader ends M’laya trip at Nongpoh

NONGPOH: Jain spiritual leader Acharya Mahashraman concluded his Meghalaya visit here on Thursday calling upon people of the state to maintain peace and harmony for all round development. Acharya Mahashraman, along with his followers, travelled to the State all the way from Delhi on bare foot spreading the message of harmony.
On the eve of his departure to Kolkata, Acharya Mahashraman attended a valedictory function in Nongpoh which was attended by local MLA DD Lapang, people from the Jain community and local headman among others.
District Sessions Judge Ri Bhoi, Norien Khan, R.L Sethia, President of Meghalaya Chamber of Commerce, Monoj Kumar Lunia, Convener of Acharya Mahashraman Committee and eminent members of Shillong’s Jain community were also present.
Lapang lauded Acharya Mahashraman’s initiative and stated, “Non-violence should be the order of the day. It plays a very important role in all round development of the society and the country. Lapang also called upon the general public to follow the footsteps of Acharya Mahashraman so as to make the world a better place to live in.
