Says demonestisation seems to have hit the party hard

SHILLONG:  A day after Chief Minister Mukul expressed his discontentment over the Centre’s demonetisation move, Opposition leader Donkupar Roy took a jibe at the Congress stating that the party seems to be the worst affected by the move.
“It seems the demonetisation exercise is affecting them (the Congress),” Roy told media persons here on Tuesday.
Sangma had alleged that the decision of the Centre to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes would make way for even bigger corruption.
Welcoming the demonetisation move, Roy said that the decision will help the nation in the long run as its main objective is to root out black money, terror funding and fake currency.
Meanwhile, the UDP also lambasted the claim of the chief minister that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Scheme (MNREGS) is a programme of the then Congress-led UPA government.
“It (MNREGS) is not a baby of the Congress but a programme of the Government of India,” he said while also welcoming the decision of the state government to increase the corpus of the contingency fund.
