Dry Day
The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has declared December 13 and 16 as dry day in West Jaintia Hills on account of the bye-election to the War East Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. All IMFL licensed premises (wholesale and retail sale) bars, country spirit shops etc., shall remain closed on the mentioned dates.
Cashless transactions
The West Jaintia Hills District Administration in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) and HDFC will organize an open awareness campaign on December 8 at 11am in the Conference Hall of DC’s office to create awareness among people on cashless transaction, mobile transaction and a need for installation of PoS (Point of Sale) machines in shops.
RTI
The Executive Committee, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council has appointed Public Information Officers of different departments of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council to expedite the matters relating to furnishing of information under RTI Act, 2005. This was informed by the Secretary to the Executive Committee, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.
Interaction
The Governor of Meghalaya will have an interaction with 100 under privileged children from five schools adopted by the Inner Wheel Club of Shillong at 11:30 am at the Raj Bhavan in the city on December 7.

The Department of Mass Media, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong will organize the 19th Annual Photography Exhibition titled, “Stitched-Tapestry of Culture” from December 7-9 at the conference hall, St. Anthony’s College at 10 am.

Korean Music Festival will be organized by East Khasi Hills District Arts & Culture Society in collaboration with the department of Arts and Culture at U Soso Tham Auditorium on December 7 at 5pm.
National seminar
The North East India Council for Social Science Research will organize a two-day National Seminar on ’25 years of Economic reform in India and its impact on North East India’ on December 9 and 10 at Raitong building. The inaugural function will be held on December 9 at 10 am. The Meghalaya Governor will be the Chief Guest for the inaugural seminar.
Cleaning drive
The Executive Committee of Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Mawroh will conduct a cleaning drive on December 12.
Dorbar Shnong Mission Compound will conduct a cleaning drive from 7 am on December 10. Vehicle entry to the locality will be restricted during the drive.
Death anniv
The Khasi Students Union Malki Circle will observe the death anniversary of late KSU president Bull Lyngdoh on December 7 at 8 am near Shillong Law College, Malki.
