Woman assaulted for refusing to deposit scrapped cash

SHILLONG: A woman in the city was allegedly assaulted after she refused a request of another woman to deposit an amount of Rs 2 lakh in old currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500.
Munna Kumar Ray of Bishop Cotton Road lodged a complaint that on December 2 morning, one Dhanma Devi approached his wife Babita Devi to deposit an amount of Rs 2 lakh old currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations.
On refusal, the accused abused her with filthy language.
The next day, the accused along with her husband Ramanand Ray and four daughters assaulted his wife causing injuries to her and she was admitted at Ganesh Das Hospital.
