Four receive North East India Award

SHILLONG: The award ceremony for North East India Award on Peace, Social Work, Youth & Education and Tribal Literature 2016 was held on Saturday at Christ School (International), Nongsder, Umiam.
The Governor of Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh V. Shanmuganathan, who was the chief guest distributed the awards to the four eminent persons.
Niketu Iralu from Nagaland was conferred the North East India Peace Award 2016, Fr. Francis Thottathimyalil (T.J), SDB received the North East India Tribal Literature Award 2016, Dr. George Kallingal was conferred the North East India Education and Youth Affairs Award 2016 while Sr. Judith Shadap, RNDM  received the North East India Social Work Award 2016.
In keeping with the spirit of Christ School International and K K L Loyi Foundation (Guwahati), a set of awards has been instituted by the two organizations to honour individuals and institutions that excel in the promotion on peace, social work, youth affairs & education and tribal literature. The award consists of a citation and a cash prize. The awards are given every year.
