Do’kua Festival concludes in GH

SHILLONG: The two-day celebration of the 2nd Do’kua Festival at Mendal concluded with a colourful note on December 10.  The event was organised by Garo Students’ Union (GSU),  Mendal Unit in colaboration with Mendal Cluster Centre.
The first day of the event began with  indegineous sports like jakpong pe’a (arm wrestling), ro’ong detoma (weight lifting),  wa’pong sika and other activities such as singing and dancing competition for children as well as fancy dress.
On the second day, chief guest Brigady N. Marak,  MLA Bajengdoba opened the  program with colorful traditional Wangala dance  and also inaugurated the free coaching class for class X under the Chief Minister programs career and guidance scheme.
Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Mendal Unit also handed over the excellence certificate with cash to meritorious students of Mendal area for their performance in the 2016 SSLC and HSSLC exam.
Six troups participated in the Wangala dance competition where Gabetgre cultural club bagged the first prize while the second prize went to Denggnanggre cultural club.
