SHILLONG: The Winter Travel Carnival-Travel & Tourism Bazaar (TTB) kick started here on Wednesday.
Labour Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was the chief guest while Patricia Mukhim, Editor of The Shillong Times was the guest of honour at the event which marks various aspects of travel and tourism.
On the occasion, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and host state Meghalaya put up stalls that displayed the respective places of attractions in the states. Representatives of all three states observed that footfalls to the event have increased with each passing year.
While Rajasthan is promoting its forts, the January 14 Kiet festival and the Palace on Wheels, Telangana highlighted the heritage tours, rural tours and aqua tourism.
For Madhya Pradesh, Abhijit Dhar, Senior Tourist Officer, highlighted the rich wildlife and water-based tourism. “The state is safe, tourist friendly and has more than 80 hotels run by the state government,” he said.
The Winter Travel Carnival will conclude on December 16.
