SHILLONG: The KHNAM State Youth Wing has lashed out at UDP working president Bindo M Lanong stating that the party does not need a ‘certificate’ from the UDP on its political run.
Lanong had reportedly said that it was the end of the road for KHNAM which did not secure any seat in the just concluded district council by-polls, though the party had contested three seats.
In a statement issued to the press on Sunday, KHNAM State Youth Wing president Thomas Passah said that it was childish on the part of Lanong to make such comments. “The UDP should keep in mind that the KHNAM was formed due to the failure of regional parties like it,” Passah said. He clarified that the outcome of the district council by-polls are no indication of things to come as far as the 2018 Assembly election in the state is concerned. “We did not get much time to prepare for the KHADC by-election,” Passah said.
He added that the defeat will not deter the party from working hard for the Assembly polls. Meanwhile, setting aside political differences, Passah congratulated the UDP on wining two seats in the by-poll.
