Itanagar: Union Women & Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has assured financial assistance to Arunachal Pradesh against proposal submitted for infrastructure development of 6225 anganwadi centres in the state.
Her assurance came when state’s Women and Child Development (WCD) Parliamentary Secretary Gojen Gadi accompanied with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju called on her in New Delhi on Monday, an official statement said here on Tuesday.
Gadi drew her attention that the state government had submitted proposals worth over Rs 31.15 crore under normal integrated child development scheme to meet basic requirements for 2016-17, like pre-school kits, uniform and other necessities for anganwadi centres and requested for early release of fund.
In a separate memorandum, Gadi informed that the children students in existing 6225 anganwadi centres throughout the state have been studying without bench and desks for the last many years and exhorted her to sanction fund for at least 10 sets of bench-desk for each anganwadi centre.
After consulting with senior officers of her ministry present, Gandhi pointed out that there would be no dearth of funds for any genuine cause and assured that whatever possible would be sanctioned during this fiscal, the statement said. (PTI)
