Prof Shyamadas Bhattacharjee no more

SHILLONG: Prof Shyamadas Bhattacharjee, octogenarian, retired lecturer of History, Lady Keane College, died on January 3 in Silchar after a prolonged period of illness. He was known as a dramatist and writer who was intimately involved with socio cultural activities of Shillong. His Bengali book tracing the early history of Shillong and contribution of various communities and individuals who were early settlers, is widely regarded as a ‘treasure’.
