SHILLONG: Congress legislator AL Hek, who was dropped from the Congress led MUA-II cabinet last year, was accommodated as the chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
Earlier, Congress legislator MM Danggo, who is currently the Cabinet Minister in charge PWD (Roads) and Parliamentary Affairs held the post of MIDC chief.
The appointment of Hek was a sort of appeasement as his supporters were annoyed over the sudden removal of the legislator from the Cabinet. The reason cited by the party for his removal was that he was coming closer to BJP, which, however, was earlier denied by Hek.
Meanwhile, former deputy speaker Sanbor Shullai is now heading the Meghalaya Government Construction Company (MGCC) Limited as its chairman.
