SHILLONG: Police have registered a case after two NGOs, CSWO and TUR, filed an FIR at Laban police station against the proprietor/owner(s)/management of Marvelene’s Inn, Rilbong, under POCSO Sec 21 (1), which holds them accountable if the matter is not reported to police.
Police said investigation is on to ascertain whether the management and the owner of the hotel are culpable.
According to police, though there is no law that makes it illegal if hotels don’t enter details of the guests, it is illegal if hotel authorities have knowledge of prostitution going on in any hotel.
The FIR also urged police to register a case under Section 370 of the IPC as amended by the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013, which holds those liable who for the purpose of exploitation, harbours and receives a person or persons.
