SHILLONG: Reports of rape cases in the city continue to pour in despite rallies and protests against the rise in crime against women.
Two more cases have been reported, one in South West Khasi Hills and the other in West Jaintia Hills.
In the first instance, a 48-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old man, identified as Plingdarius Myrthong, at Domruah village in Mawkyrwat. Police said the incident took place around 8pm on January 6.
The victim was sent to Mawkyrwat CHC and was later referred to Ganesh Das Hospital in Shillong.
In another incident on Sunday morning, a 13-year-old boy attempted to rape a nine-year-old girl at a place called Lumpohkseh, Ionglaw under Raliang in West Jaintia Hills.
